First year Illustration students were last week treated to 2
days in the studio with Storyteller, Ian Douglas.
Ian has a background
in theatre and performance so was full of energy and creative ideas. Ian
worked with the students in very physical ways to create their own
stories. He did this by asking the group to work in unusual ways to
stimulate imagination. Who would have thought the illustrators were
budding actors? They got into character, staged scenes using each other
and used each others life stories as the starting point to tell unique
stories.
The students were connected to the stories they told and helped
each other. They will now work on illustrating these stories, letting
the words and pictures work together.
